Outstanding Trading Appetite during the First Trading Session in NILEX
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) launched on Thursday 3 June 2010 the first trading session in the Nile Stock Exchange (NILEX), the first market for growing medium and small companies in the MENA region. The first trading session witnessed a significant demand from the investors where the asks significantly exceeded the bids. Moreover, 4 companies were traded during the first trading session, recording a total trading volume of 1.4 million shares worth LE 10 million. The shares' prices registered significant increases compared to their par value.

MillenniumIT to Provide Trading Surveillance System to the Egyptian Exchange
MillenniumIT (UK), a leading technology solutions provider and part of the London Stock Exchange Group, and the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), announced that they have entered into a partnership agreement. Under the agreement, MillenniumIT, which has over a decade of experience in building technology solutions for the capital markets, will provide EGX with a state-of-the-art Trading Surveillance System (TSS). Built around an evolutionary architecture, TSS will help the EGX effectively maintain an orderly market in today's fast paced, electronic trading environment. This software will enable the EGX to proactively, accurately and rapidly identify abusive behaviour and conduct further investigations to ensure a fair, efficient and transparent market for all participants.

The Launch of S&P/EGX ESG Index
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), in collaboration with The Egyptian Institute of Directors and Standard & Poor's have launched the S&P/EGX ESG Index; the first of its kind in the Middle East and the second in the Emerging markets after India. The index includes the 30 companies that perform well along the three parameters of environmental, social and corporate governance responsibility compared to other listed companies. The index will encourage the listed companies to enhance environmental, social and corporate governance areas.
